British player Laura Robson has eased through into the second round after a commanding display defeating Melanie Oudin 6-2 6-4. Robson will now play Kvitova in the second round.
The British number two hit 11 aces and a succession of forehand winners to ease past Oudin and joins fellow Briton Heather Watson in the second round of the Australian Open.
"I'll go in with nothing to lose again," said Robson. "I seem to play pretty well when I do that. It's going to be tough, two lefties playing each other. I haven't played a lefty in a while, so I'm going to have to try as best I can."
Robson quickly moved 4-0 ahead on the way to winning the first set in just 35 minutes at a sunbathed Melbourne Park.
A few double faults made by Robson enabled Oudin to claw back to 3-3, and an unforced error count of 30 for Robson will be something she'll want to improve.
Oudin was not capable of taking advantage, however, and her fragile forehand handed Robson victory on the second match point after 75 minutes.
