World number two Serena Williams eased into third round of the Australian Open with a straight sets wins over 19-year-old Garbine Muguruza.
Williams stormed to victory with a 6-2 6-0 win over Spaniard Muguruza in Melbourne Park and will face either Ayumi Morita or Annika Beck in the third round.
The third seed injured her ankle in her first round match after a medic was called to the court Williams vowed to fight on throughout the rest of the Australian Open.
Speaking of her injury Williams said: "It feels better, I was just doing everything you can do [to get ready for today],"
A break point for Williams in the first game was enough for her to drive a wedge into the opening set. A penetrating cross court forehand that world No.112 Muguruza could barely get her frame to give the third seed an early lead.
Williams made 20 unforced errors, compared to just 11 in her first match, an unexpected statistic from Serena.
A second break in the seventh game gave Williams a stranglehold on the first set, which she duly served out 6-2.
An 18-minute game to open the second set ended with Williams finally getting an extremely hard-earned break.
Thankfully for the American it was not a sign of things to come. The rest of the set took just 19 minutes as Williams found her range, took charge and took the win.
