On Monday the wild and vicicious draw of the unlucky Roger Federer begins. First he faces an in form Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. If he wins that the prospect of Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic stands in the way of his campaign to win his fifth Australian Open title.
“This is clearly a tough draw I have,” he said on Saturday
after a third consecutive straight-sets victory.
“But important for me now is that I don’t go crazy about who
I play.”
Roger leads his head to head battle with Tsonga 9-4. A year ago in two Grand Slam quarter-finals, he beat the Frenchman in a five-setter at the Australian Open and then put in a poor performance to be defeated by Tsonga 7-5 6-3 6-3 at Roland Garros. If you want to see sparks fly tomorrow, then make sure you watch his match.
Kei Nishikori faces the number one seed Rafael Nadal. He has only ever won one set against the Spaniard, and that was six years ago.
Nadal's fellow countryman Roberto Bautista Agut, who knocked Juan Martin Del Potro out of the tournament the other day, faces Grigor Dimitrov.
