Djokovic to end year as world number 1

Novak Djokovic will end the year as world number 1, overtaking Roger Federer in the rankings.

Roger Federer will not be seeking to retain his Paris Masters title which will allow the current world number 2, Djovokic, to move ahead in the world rankings.

Federer regained the number 1 ranking when he beat Andy Murray in this year's Wimbledon final. This lead to Roger Federer being the world number 1 longer than any player in history.

In 2011, Djovokic surged to number 1 after winning 3 Grand Slams and began this year by retaining his Australian Open title.
