Cilic has said he will appeal the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the sports governing body the, International Tennis Federation handed down the ban.
The ban has been backdated to May 1, which means he will be able to return to the game on February 1.
In a statement, he revealed he could not discuss the case
but said: "Unbeknownst to me, the glucose tablets contained a substance
that is banned in-competition (although it is allowed out-of-competition).
"I wish to emphasise that I have never knowingly or
deliberately taken any banned substances in my life and that I am opposed to
any use of performance-enhancing substances in sport."
