Day 4 Preview: Hot, hot, hot

As temperatures are set to reach 42C on Day 4 of the Australian Open in Melbourne, will the performances be as hot as the weather.

Three-time finalist Andy Murray is back inaction on Thursday. After discussing the issue of the heat with the press, the Brit will be glad that his second round match will be played at night, so it will hopefully be significantly cooler as he takes on French qualifier Vincent Millot.

After breezing through his first round match, Roger Federer will be hoping his Slovenian opponent Blaz Kavcic won't put up much of a challenge, as the four-time Australian Open champion hopes to progress to the third round of the tournament.

The focus on day 4 looks set to be two matches that could result in a tasty third round set-up. If eleventh seed Milos Raonic defeats Victor Hanescu and Twenty-two seed Grigor Dimitrov beats Yen-Hsun Lu, well Saturday should definitely be marked in your diary as we could see an intriguing third round clash. While Raonic excerpts brute power on his serve and forehand, Dimitrov is a 'Federer-esque' throwback with a one-handed backhand with great style.

Two-time defending champion Victoria Azarenka plays former two-time Australian Open junior champion Barbara Zahlavova Strycova, ranked No.32 in the world.

Karin Knapp of Italy stands in the way of Maria Sharapova reaching the third round of the Melbourne tournament. This time last year Sharapova didn't drop a game in her first two matches, this year she has already dropped seven.

World number one Rafael Nadal faces Australian teenager Thanasi Kokkinakis. It's the 17 year-olds first Grand Slam. Can the home crowd favourite cause an upset or will Nadal breeze into the third round.
