Day 5 preview: Friendly rivalry

For Samantha Stosur and Ana Ivanovic their evenly matched performances will definitely give the crowd something to take their minds off the hot weather on day 5 of the Australian Open.

Two Aussies are in action in Melbourne as they seek to win their third round matches. The unpredictable Samantha Stosur and Casey Dellacqua. The crowd will be hoping for a more positive day of results for their home favourites as teenagers Thomaz Kokkinakis and Nick Kyrgios both ended their Australian Open campaign.

Samantha Stosur faces evenly matched Ana Ivanovic, the crowd will definitely have something to take their minds off the scorching heat. Stosur leads their rivalry 4-3 but they split two meetings late in 2013. Stosur won in Moscow and Ivanovic in Sofia. In their Grand Slam encounters, Stosur prevailed in Melbourne and Ivanovic won at Roland Garros.

World number one Serena Williams is also back in action as she takes on Daniela Hantuchova, the two haven't played each other since 2009.

Williams has an 8-1 career advantage, with the only loss coming at the same stage- the round of 32- at the Australian Open in 2006.

Jeff Guadagno's tips
We should look out for Sam Querrey and Florian Mayer advancing to the fourth round. Their matches should be an intriguing watch.

Depending on what Stosur brings to the court, her match-up with Ivanovic may be hotter than the Melbourne weather.

Eugenie Bouchard plays the feisty American Lauren Davis. Davis could be a tough out for the Canadian, but expect the 19-year old Bouchard to move through to the Round of 16. Keep one eye on this one.
