Wimbledon: Sara Errani dumped out of Wimbledon

Fifth Sara Errani has been knocked out of Wimbledon after she was defeated in the first round against teenager Monica Puig.

The Puerta Rican defeated Errani in straight sets on Court 18 6-3 6-2. This was Puig's first senior match on grass.

Monica Puig said: "It was a very relaxed game for me. At the beginning I just blinked and I was up 6-3 5-1. I was able to close it out and I am very happy with this win.

"Everyone is super happy. My dad called me and he was ecstatic, my mum is here and she is very proud and my coach as well. I haven't stopped receiving messages so everybody is thrilled."

Puig broke her opponent four times on the way to victory and hit 38 winners to defeat Errani who reached the quarter finals of Wimbledon last year.

Monica Puig will play Flavia Pennetta in the second round.
