The British tennis star has made the decision to change her coach Maurico Hadad after their two year partnership.

Speaking to BBC Sport Watson said: "With coaches it's always a big decision, I put a lot of thought into it and I thought it was the best decision for me and my career.

Heather became very ill at the beginning of the year after a serious belt of glandular fever. Following two months off the circuit the Brit fell from a career high of world number 39 to 76th.

"I think to get to the next level I need to change some things in my game, improve some things, add some things, so that's part of me coming to this decision."

"It's always going to be a tough decision," said Watson, speaking before this week's Citi Open in Washington. "At the end of the day it's my job, it's a business. I've got to do what is right for me and my career."

Watson said she is prepared if  her results suffer following drastic changes to style of play.
