The world number seven was playing Nedovyesov, who is ranked 87 places below him. The three time quarter-finalist at Melbourne Park took a comfortable 6-3 6-4 6-3 win over the Ukrainian.
Having broken 5-3 in the first set, Berdych faced two break points on serve before ripping three forehand winners and forcing his opponent into error to take it 6-3.
Throughout the match Berdych kept Nedovyesov on the backfoot thanks in part to his heavily struck forehand.
Nedovyesov who broke into the world top 100 for the first time in his career in 2013, stuck with Berdych until four all in the second set.
From then on Berdych kept his foot on the accelerator, ripping a backhand pass up the line to bring up break point. Berdych set-up three match points, winning the match in true style by hitting an ace straight down the line.
The Czech will take on Kenny De Schepper in the second round.
