Novak Djokovic through to the fourth round

Defending champion Novak Djokovic isn't in the business of hanging around as he marches into the fourth round.

The world No.1, as confident as ever on the Rod Laver Arena, cruised into the fourth round after a 6-3 6-3 7-5 win over Denis Istomin.

The Serb has been formidable so far in Melbourne, his quest to retain his Australian Open title seems likely to be achieved. There's only a few matches left between Djokovic and the final, but as they say, anything could happen.

The Uzbekistan player is use to some good results at Grand Slams, reaching the fourth round of the US Open in 2013 and in Wimbledon in 2012. He counts Nicolas Almagro as one of his high profile victims, unfortunately for Istomin he couldn't add Djokovic to his list.

After just 12 minutes, Djokovic was leading by three games to one in the first set, breaking serve in the third game. Istomin wasn't able to break back and in half an hour the Serb had taken the opening set 6-3.

It was relatively the same story in the second set, Djokovic taking the only break of serve to go up 4-2. In the third, the same again. The defending champ broke again to lead 3-1, despite some flashes of brilliance from Istomin it wasn't quite enough to spoil Djokovic's party.

There was much more of a fightback from Istomin in the third set as the scorecard shows. The Uzbekistani broke Djokovic's serve, but his luck wasn't about to last, the Serb broke straight back and served out the match in true style.

Up next for Djokovic is Fabio Fognini, they'll play their fourth round match on Sunday.
