Serena Williams unchallenged as she makes the third round

World No.1 Serena Williams was unchallenged by her opponent Vesna Dolonc as she took just over an hour to reach the third round.

The unwavering force of Williams was never in doubt, her ranked 104th opponent was never a real threat to the five time Australian Open champion.

The American's 6-1 6-2 win equals Margaret Court's record of 60 match wins in the Open era at the Australian Tournament.

"I was happy just to get that win under my belt and have a chance to go at the next round," she said, beating Dolonc 6-1, 6-2 in an hour and three minutes.

"I have been training for a long, long time in the heat in Florida as well as playing - I have been coming to Melbourne for years and years. So you just have to be ready for those hot conditions and just try to get through it."

Williams rallied to a 3-0 in what seemed a matter of minutes. Dolonc managed to get a game on board but her opponent was clearly in control of the first set, 6-1 after just 29 minutes. Serena was too dominate, only one rally lasted nine shots.

Two double faults in the second set from Dolonc gave Williams two breaks of serve. Again, the Serb fought back and trailed 1-4, but an ace from Serena saw off any challenge.

In the closing stages of the match Serena served out to love, burying a serve out right to the right and forehand drive volley out wide to the left gave Williams the win in one hour and three minutes.

There's only five matches between Serena and the final, should we expect anything less?
